What do you reccomend to do in Bora Bora and how much would a one week vacation from St. Louis cost?
I have seen so many pictures and I want to go there SO bad for a vacation! What are the best things to do there? Also, best restaurants, hotels, etc. Thanks!!
The cost depends on the time of year you go, the type of hotel you stay at, and what activities you’d like to do. Personally, I wouldn’t spend a whole week in Bora Bora because it can get a bit boring. We spent 3 nights there and as beautiful as it was, I had enough. If you’re going to fly so far you may as well visit another island within French Polynesia; Moorea is a popular choice and very beautiful as well.
Basically, Bora Bora is for relaxation. You can go snorkeling, scuba diving, you can take a ray and shark feeding tour, you can do a 4×4 tour of the island, you can go shopping for black pearls, and of course you can just sit out on the deck of your overwater bungalow and enjoy the spectacular view.
The best hotel depends on where you’d like to stay. There are hotels on the island itself and also on the smaller motus (islets) around the island. There are many hotels with 4 or more stars. Where you stay basically just depends on how much you can afford.
There aren’t any fabulous restaurants on the island, but there are some pretty good ones. Bloody Mary’s is famous; they have a huge sign out front with a listing of all the famous people who’ve visited. There’s also Villa Mahana, but it’s super expensive.
We went 2 years ago for our honeymoon. Plane tickets were $1500 per person just from NY to Tahiti, then we had to take a smaller plane to Bora Bora. I don’t remember how much that was. We stayed at the InterContinental Le Moana in a regular overwater bungalow. With the exchange rates back then, we spent around $800 a night. That also included breakfast and dinner. Excursions were pricey, I think the shark and ray tour was like $90 pp.
It was an expensive trip, but I would do it again in a heartbeat.

On completion of the rituals, the couples are carried by warriors on a royal chair.
Many hotels and resorts in the area offer superb facilities for a memorable wedding. Some of them even offer packages in the form of the princess wedding, the royal wedding, and the royal deluxe wedding. Mostly, included in these packages are assistance of an expert wedding planner, sunset cruise, traditional Tahitian wedding ceremony, and romantic dinner.
Likewise, activities that can be enjoyed in the island are endless. Excellent options are also available for shopping in the island, with outlets selling everything from small items to much pricey items including black pearl and handcrafted jewelry.
Apart from these, sightseeing options are aplenty in Bora Bora. One of the most popular attractions is lagoonarium, surrounded by coral reef. A plethora of activities can be enjoyed here such as stingray feeding, picnicking, jet skiing, and scuba diving. You can also see a range of water animals here including turtles and dolphins. Also, while your stay at Bora Bora, take a tour to Maraes, which are the ancient shrines in the region. Each of the Maraes or temples seen here is open air shrines. Popular among these shrines are Marae Fare-Opu and Marae Marotetini.
Matira Beach is another not to miss attraction in the area. A classic example of the South Pacific Beach, the beach is a coral paradise endowed with some rare tropical fish species. A tour to Bora Bora would not be complete with out taking a tour to Mount Pahia, which is an imposing volcanic peak. World War II Relics, Cooks Bay, Tetiaroa Atoll and Bird Sanctuary, with an exotic variety of sea birds, and Laid-back Huahine with archeological sites are the other popular destinations in the island.
